About

Collective Training - Background & Ethos:

Collective Training Ltd is based in Fife on the East Coast of Scotland and is run by company director Tom Durham.  We were established in 2010 to provide professional outdoor sports guiding instruction & coaching, and ITC approved first aid training, throughout Scotland and further afield.

Collective Training Director - Tom DurhamWe recognised a need for flexible and mobile instructors and first aid trainers, able to deliver accredited courses at a time suitable to you, in your choice of location.

This sets us apart from other training providers and makes your course relevant to your situation; whether that be First Aid in your workplace, mountain bike skills on your favourite trail, or sailing for the first time somewhere that you've always wanted to try.  All of our courses are tailored to you and your requirements.

Our team of instructors have been sourced from around the country.  Their skill and experience will help them provide the same standard of training in any location and ensure that you get the very best from your course.

Using local professionals also helps to reduce the amount of travelling required to get to your venue and ensures that you benefit from any local knowledge.  When we guide you to a new location or on a new route, you can rest assured that we have done our homework and know each area well - recceing new routes and their associated cake stops is a definite perk of the job!

Each Collective Training representative operates to the very highest standards and is chosen for their experience, skill and passion for their speciality.  Between us, we have a vast range of experience, drawn from time spent instructing and doing the sports we love, all over the world.

Our Vision Statement:

Environmental Policy

At Collective Training we are acutely aware of the impact that we have on the environment that we all take so much pleasure from.

We do our upmost to minimise our impact, whether it is at home, in the office, or outdoors.  Happily, being based in Fife means that we can take advantage of Fife Council's excellent recycling scheme.  This allows us to sort and recycle almost all of our household and office waste, leaving the absolute minimum to go to landfill.

As much as possible we:

  • Avoid over use of paper and other expendable items
  • Keep our energy consumption to a minimum and use renewable energy sources
  • Avoid using motorised transport – cycling’s more fun anyway
  • Avoid waste and recycle
  • Use naturally and sustainably sourced products
  • Use biodegradable waxes, lubes and cleaning products
  • Keep group sizes small to minimise impact on the landscape
  • Stick to recognised trails and routes and avoid known soft ground after periods of wet weather
  • Use local suppliers and trainers to minimise transport requirements
  • Support environmental campaigns such as Surfers Against Sewage, the RYA’s Green Blue and the John Muir Trust

Collective Training's vision is to maintain an excellent reputation throughout Scotland as providers of professional, accredited training, instruction and courses in relevant locations. Our core areas of First Aid, Mountain Sports and Water Sports continue to be our focus and we consistently work towards developing new and exciting courses in these areas.

High quality tailored training is important to our clients who prioritise value and relevance over price where possible. With this in mind we will continue to deliver our courses at locations that either suit or excite our clients, either within Scotland or further afield.
